Welcome to the Ponty Town web site...

NEWS

You can make a difference if you just try. The biggest disease in Pontypridd is apathy, don't catch it and don't pass it on. If you want things to improve them do something about them. Write to or email your MP, write to your AM, write to your local councillor, post a message on our popular forum and keep writing until things change or they do. Don't give up and until you change Ponty for the better! We shall try to update this section with local news every week or so but don't forget that most news is posted on the message board daily.

12 Aug 10

News this week that Ponty will at last be having approx. £10 million spent on re-development. A new Precinct II - the Revenge of the Precinct, i.e. a make-over and paint job no doubt which will result in brand new empty shop units unlike the old run down empty shop units we already have, or are we being a little negative? Don't think so. A Sainsbury to keep shoppers away from businesses in town, no pool, no sports centre and no news yet of a new road system? Work will begin January 2011... umm? Weren't we promised Jan 2010, and October 2009 before that for this particular development? Still plenty of time to get those emigration papers done.

8 Aug 10

The summer is here (kind of) and so it's bimbling season again. Ok, anytime is actually but we did our first official Urban Bimble yesterday which you may find interesting.

22 July 10

The Welsh Poetry Competition 2010 has a new winner - famous novelist Sally Spedding wins the much coveted prize this year with 20 other winners also mentioned. Visit the website here or why not join our Facebook group? A detailed press release & photograph was sent out to Ponty Observer, Echo, Western Mail, BBC etc. etc. - don't think anyone used it though - shame eh! Obviously more important news that week like 'kitten stuck up tree' or 'look whose been in court'. Ah well, we try.

12 July 10

Not much been happening in and around Ponty lately. Labour Party backers Sainsbury are going to build a shop on old BL site and cause huge tailbacks on A470 and connecting roads, take even more shoppers away from town. Not sure whether they are going to clean up the canal as Morrisons promised to do...

Things starting to get very scary on a national scale though as the Tories begin their 'Put the Poor on the Dole' campaign and make they friends in the banks richer still. Bloody revolution seems the only solution?

Ponty have a few friendlies arranged and Aironi Rugby & Benetton Treviso join the Magners although us valley folk still don't have a team to support in that league :(  Maybe a poor performance at the RWC in NZ will see the shake up we need... or maybe not. Until then, it's just Ponty rugby then.

15 June 10

Fixture list and links page updated. More photos added to Dave Lewis Photography website - click here.

5 June 10

Dave Lewis - new book launched - 'Urban Birdsong' - click here for reviews.

Wales lose to South Africa, although the valley boys played well. Looks like a severe hammering in NZ next seeing as we couldn't beat a second string Boks team at home :(  I blame C******.

1 June 10

Well, the 2010 Welsh Poetry Competition is over for another year. Judging begins soon and by mid-July John Evans should have picked another 20 top poets!

Rugby season seems to be over again as Ponty & Warriors players plus a few Kiwis take the European Cup (2nd tier) and the Ospreys win the Magners League Final.

Not much debate on board although new MP Owen Smith caused a stir on a blog last week (can't fault him actually!) and hopefully we'll start to see and hear him around town soon... In case you wondered what he's been up to on your behalf why not check him out here.

We've also updated the Useful Numbers section, but any additions/corrections please let us know.

20 May 10

Well, the people voted and as Brucie says 'Didn't he do well!'. Mike Powell that is. Congratulations to Mike for shaking up the status quo. However, we still have a Labour lad as MP and so I suppose time will tell if he's any good for us in Ponty. Fingers crossed he will be familiarising himself with local issues on our message board, drinking with us all in the Llanover and campaigning hard for a swimming pool, sustainable town development, etc. etc. etc. with the local council. Then again he may just stay in Surrey?

Well, it's the last week before the General Election and although the Observer published our column a week late and took out a few key words what the hell, you probably got the jist of it. Without telling you who to vote for what we will say is that if you don't vote, you can't moan afterwards, and if you don't vote for change things will stay the same. Think 30 years of the precinct, think run-down, neglected town, think no swimming pool and sports centre and all the money going to the 'Tonyrefail mafia'. Up to you folks.

22 April 10

Ponty finish the league with a hammering of the Turks and the District Club gets a new website (see links page). Political Hustings at Gartholwg on Monday night and plenty of chatter on board. Nice to see a column make the Observer last week. 'Tweens' can be found on the Dave Lewis site.

18 April 10

Took some nice Red Kite photos yesterday which was just as well as Ponty slumped to a heavy defeat down Bridgend and are now out of the Cup :(

14 April 10

Spring clean time for the site so we've updated things a little to get rid of broken links. Please tell us of any you find. Ponty slipping away from top now but still in Cup and plays offs.

Election fever kind of grips board with a few more posts on whose going to win. Why not log on and vote yourself?

Dave has just got back from Sri Lanka so will hopefully update the Photography site soon with a few elephant images :) and he is also due to publish his second book soon. Watch this space...

27 March 10

It would seem a month is a long time in Ponty... Loads of crazy stuff on the board, one silly idea is that 3 year olds go to school on the same bus as 16 year old drug dealers. I'm sure many parents will be considering home tutoring if this stupid RCT idea ever happens. Losing 6th Forms in schools is one think but this is complete madness.

Parade in town today for the troops home from war not that RCT have advertised it on local radio, our board or anywhere else? Then again the above are free and it is approaching April.

At least Wales beat Italy so I suppose that should spur us on against NZ and SA - oh dear. Ponty Rugby still in the chase and some nice sunny fixtures still to come. Results updated, Ponty in 6th place and C****** last but 10 :)

Welsh Poetry Competition is now half way with just 2 months to get your entries in and win a cash prize.

Suggestions for a new 'board' on Forum are invited - just post what you'd like and we'll get back to you.

28 Feb 10

Great win up at Ayr for Ponty with about 1000 travelling fans to cheer the boys on. If only the C****** Blues could get half that number to support their team. Wales commit suicide in first half against France and then try a comeback that was never on the cards, although as JD said the game should have been re-started.

14 Feb 10

Wales beat Scotland but should have lost just like they lost to England but should have won. Weird. Fixtures list updated - click here.

3 Feb 10

Wales kick off their 6 Nations campaign on Saturday so the next few weeks of rugby should get us all adding to the profits of the local pubs.

New website worth a visit if you like badgers - click here - and would like to get involved trying to save them from the crazy Welsh Assembly nutters.

Our resident columnist, Dave Lewis (me) has bagged a runner up prize in the Rhys Davies short story competition this year, well done me :)

Lots of gossip as usual on board with a few new members but we still need more so ask your friends to join!

28 Jan 10

Happy New Year and all that. Great news for Canada - the WRUin have decided that the valleys is unimportant but that developing Canadian rugby players is - yeh, work it out! Ponty have a nightmare fixture-wise with snow and dodgy pitches. We did manage a trip to Cross Keys last night where the boys were lucky to win. Still, 6 Nations soon...

Loads of gossip on the board as ever with a few new faces.

The Welsh Poetry Competition is up and running again so get scribbling.

28 Dec 09

The quietest Christmas I can remember, although we did manage a few good nights out. I even had the socks I wanted. Call it dejavu but having just read a column from last year (about this time) I was kind of optimistic for the future, you know, a new development for the town centre, regional rugby back where it belongs, Labour councillors without heads up arses etc. but alas a year on and nothing has changed. The precinct is still the precinct and there is no sign of a bulldozer on the horizon. Mind you, Kim 'shredder' Howells and Jane 'I don't live here' Davidson are stepping down so I guess the people finally have a chance to vote for someone other than a donkey in a red rosette. I think it's called 'change'. Well, people, now is your chance. You've moaned for 30 years and done nothing about it so very soon you will have a real chance to effect some change. Lets hope in 2011 we're not still thinking we've been here before.

The Welsh Poetry Competition will be launched again in a few days with a £300 1st prize up for grabs and your worked judged by John Evans. This will be our 4th year and we hope to make it our best.

Ponty rugby have had a nightmare with the weather and so hopefully the New Year will bring a few home fixtures our way. 6 Nations coming around soon and with Wales' injuries clearing up we may be in with a chance of a top 2-3 place again. Think it might be France this year. Wales could easily win the Grand Slam of course but would need to change the way they play and we can't see that happening soon.

13 Dec 09

A 14 man heroes performance at Sardis this Saturday still couldn't quite stop three ex-Ponty boys help C****** to a narrow last minute win - bugger!

6 Dec 09

Heard last night that the precinct might not be going after all. On the one hand hope we're wrong as Ponty certainly needs a new one but if it does go where will we go for a curry?

Also heard a rumour that the Model House in Llantrisant is to close.

28 Nov 09

Great gig last night at the Green Rooms with 3 top bands and a tight little set by The Gallowbirds. Only £1.70 a bottle, cosy venue and recording studios at Trefforest Industrial Estate - cool.

Wales take on the Aussies today at Cardiff, lets hope it snows - that should do 'em!

Lots of gossip on new re-vamped message boards so get posting and start moving Ponty in the right direction.

10 Nov 09

Lots of updates to website this week. Google Ads on all pages so click a few to help us pay for the site if you will please. Good night in CYB last Sunday as local writer John Evans launched his new book - The Acid Real. He also did a special reading at the Rocking Stones for those that made it (shame on me, I know) and so helped to keep alive our druidic traditions. Good effort by Wales against the AB's but another crap Southern Hemisphere ref sees us denied any real chance of competing. More fixtures on list. More shops added to shopping page in time for Christmas shoppers who'd rather miss the crowds (or lack of them if you go to John Lewis and St David's 2 of course). News this week is that Ponty, as well as not having a swimming pool and sports centre also doesn't have a war memorial with the names of the dead inscribed - shame on RCT. Tell us what you think on the message board and post any Christmas events up and coming too.

1 Nov 09

Great win away in the big city to keep Ponty on top of table. Autumn internationals looming now as well with Wales taking on New Zealand next week. Local Ponty writer John Evans has a much awaited new book out soon. Lots of shopping sites added for Christmas.

20 Oct 09

Lots of scandal on forum as always... click message board links to read. Web site has a Christmas makeover with a few new images, some new shopping sites to tempt you and contact details and links updated. Don't forget to check out the rugby fixtures for autumn international dates too.

16 Oct 09

Lots of debate on board this last week. Shall we bring the death penalty back - vote now! Are RCT doing enough regards their bilingual obligations? Tell us what you think. Should RCT try to force developers to invest in green technology, like solar panels? Gartholwg LLC, Air ambulance, Ponty Round Table all taking advantage of our free message board so why not get involved with your organisation? Catch up with European rugby news and see how well Ponty are doing at the moment - it's all here - just sign up and get posting!

11 Oct 09

Ponty Rugby beat Swansea to go top of the table in a fantastic televised match in front of a large crowd last night which shows the Welsh public once again that the WRUin can't beat us when it comes to passion and pride. If they want a Welsh region to win Europe ('cos let's face it - it's not going to happen with the 4 crap ones we have) then they need to invest in the most talent rich area of the country and start a new region in the valleys. Ask the fans want they want not the committee mind you, as most fans don't play golf with C****** Blues directors. Opps, who said that?

3 Oct 09

Ponty Rugby win again away to Bedwas. Shopping pages updated, t-shirt shop too in preparation for the Christmas rush :)  Photography site also updated with some new images in readiness for exhibition in November.

27 Sept 09

Ponty Rugby are back to winning ways, beating Cross Keys yesterday and moving up to 3rd in the table, way ahead of C******.

Ponty rag steals users comments for their crappy newspaper and fails to give a mention or credit to this website, message board or its members. They even have the cheek to post a link to the Western Mail board which no-one looks at. Still, plenty more news, gossip, comment and honesty on our board than they will ever have in their overpriced amateur newspaper.

Lots of rumours abounding that adult education and leisure facilities in RCT are to be slashed in coming year. A shame they couldn't farm out HR, cut ludicrously high salaries of top executives and the leader as well as get rid of a few councillors in wards where there are two instead.

I feel a revolution coming on...

12 Sept 09

The new statue "Unity" which cost in excess of £130,000 (£99,000 of that to the artist) looks just about finished and I must say is quite impressive when you climb over the fence to look at it and safer than trying to take photos from a fast moving Chevy as they say. And of course it's great to have some quality artwork in our prosperous town and all those millions of tourists will now at last have something other than the Old Bridge to take photos of whilst us locals can smile contentedly to ourselves on the way home from our session in the gym or our 10 lengths in the state of the art swimming pool. Mmm? Opps, sorry I thought Ponty was the county town - my mistake!

Good win for Ponty away to Pontypool, fixtures updated.

7 Sept 09

Updated the bimbling section with a new one.

28 Aug 09

Looking forward to the kick off of the rugby season Saturday when Ponty take on Llandovery. Links page updated with a couple of 'Free Cycle' websites - any old stuff you don't want - rather than dump it in landfill - why not give it away? Lots of debate on the message board as usual, a few new members which is great (can never have enough), although a few older ones sadly missed :( and a couple of complete tossers banned (will they never learn?). Great news about the precinct - it's coming down this side of Christmas (although knowing these developer types, it will probably be later). Some confusion as to how big a re-vamp it will be (plans in Sardis House we understand). Fingers crossed it will still have the Everest and also have a few new shops and stores Ponty could do with, maybe a Millets return? Anyway, good news to report at last - lets just pray it's not going to be a Precinct II - The Revenge of the Eastern Bloc :) And finally, we leave you with the thought - if you don't post a message - no-one will know where you stand and you can't moan afterwards. So get posting Ponty people! I guess this also applies to RCT who do do some great stuff, but unfortunately never tell anyone about it, well once again, for the 12th year of offering - here's your chance!

11 Aug 09

They told us months ago a new development was planned for the precinct yet nothings moved so far? A new piece of art (nice though it may be) is underway on the badly planned roundabout heading into traffic jams (sorry, town) and the local reaction is almost unanimous - yes, nice, but we want a tidy town first! Lots of debate on the forum about the new 5 month only propaganda website by RCT with images of the Market Company all over it, as if they control RCT now? Maybe they do? Not quite Ponty, but at Hopkinstown we hear that the very popular Barry Sidings park has been closed - mmm? Regeneration in action RCT?

Also talk of why students are positively encouraged to miss Ponty altogether and why the University website doesn't even mention Ponty, link to us or any other local websites! You'd think the town council, Chamber of Trade & RCT would notice this lack of joined up thinking? Also quite funny is the local neighbourhood nobody (and quite frankly an embarrassment to the Labour Party) who once again tried to join our damn fine forum (see vote) just to personally attack members - as if we care!

On the international arts scene the Welsh Poetry Competition (which hails from Ponty) announces the 2009 results on Wed, 12th so at least the local Welsh media have cause for pride and celebration there - just watch the BBC, Academi and Western Mail promote it!

On the sporting front Ponty Rugby have drawn with Doncaster in a friendly and won the Abercynon Sevens competition. The season proper is due to kick off when they play Llandovery on the 29th. Season tickets are on sale now!

24 July 09

Rugby fixtures now updated although they are subject to change. Dave Lewis Photography site updated with new images. Poetry winners selected and will be announced on Aug 12th. Red Poets launch (Belle Vue pub, Merthyr), The Epaulettes (acoustic), £4 (includes copy of magazine), Fri 4th Sept, 7:30pm.

15 July 09

Lots of news in this weeks' paper - violent crime on the increase, RCT say they can't ban drinking in our War Memorial Park (even though they can in Aberdare) because they don't have the resources. Kids in RCT are the worst arsonists in Wales. No less than 64 RCT council workers earn over £60,000 yet in Pontyclun they have formed an action group to get rid of ineffective councillors. Some things never change it seems :(

14 July 09

Exciting stuff today as we get hacked by an Arab web site that claims Britain and America are terrorists. Just a few weeks to go until the winners of the WPC are announced. Season tickets available from Sardis Rd for £80 (Riverside) although the new British Cup games are not included :( Also learnt on weekend that Borders in Talbot Green is to shut to make way for New Look clothes shop. Just as I get my book in the shop too!!! Bugger.

9 July 09

The Lions win the 3rd Test to gain some success but could so easily have won all 3 games if not for poor selection in the first Test and poor refereeing in the second Test.  Ponty Rugby fixtures updated to include British & Irish Cup. WPC prize night will be held on Wed 12th August in Pontypridd.

21 June 09

Lions lose 1st Test after two Englishmen in the front row get stuffed and an Englishmen on the wing fails to score two tries. Things looked up after two Welshmen came into the front row so hopefully next Test they'll start.

13 June 09

Derelict BL siteAnother win for the Lions in SA, with Ponty boy Martyn Williams playing well and scoring a try and James Hook kicking the winning penalty. Pub guide updated with some pic's plus a review. WPC ends next Sunday and lots of entries flooding in now even though the Observer hasn't promoted us much this year despite a few press releases. (Ah, well, so much for YTS journos eh!) Entries from France, Greece, Australia, Ireland, Abu Dhabi to name but a few this year, yet hardly any from Ponty which is a bit sad :( Must be more writing talent overseas then.

Needles!Good news that the asbestos and needles have been cleared up from old Brown Lennox site, (thanks to Severn Insulation) but sad that this huge bit of land is going to be wasted.  They could have teamed up with probation, South Wales Police and turned it into a game reserve where rich Americans could pay handsomely to shoot scumbag druggies who roam our streets instead of being locked up or in hospital. Opposite is a photo of just some of the syringes found in the old BL site - a regular haunt of the drug culture that is so prevalent today :(

Our Town Development Plan

Over the past eight years we've made it clear what we'd like to see happen in our town and now that we have a new Labour controlled council perhaps they will listen to the people. After all, Plaid didn't listen so we voted them out. Below is a round up of our current thinking...

St Catherine's Corner: The new development is underway. The vicar is against it. We are against it and we think the people will be against it when they see it. Time will tell so watch this space... (Note: We did say - with the widening of the road the church looks lovely now, so lets not block the view with a hideous concrete construction or car park. Let's build some small units for multi-nationals and local shops in a 50:50 mix. Any construction must be done using sustainable local materials. The Welsh Assembly is supposed to be promoting this so we should get any funding we need. Lets commission an architect that likes the work of Gaudi and say we want the same! With a unique and attractive development at the northern end of town people from the valleys going home every night by car, bus and train will be enchanted and want to visit!)

Maritime/Sardis: There is a huge amount of land/space here and so we propose the first of our sports centres for the town. An Olympic size swimming pool, state of the art sports centre with basketball facilities (to attract the Rhondda Rebels to town), a modern multi-gym for use by Pontypridd rugby players and academies, and future regional (Warriors II) rugby team, a secure bike park for users of the centre, a cycle track and indoor tennis courts. There is plenty of car parking at Sardis Road already plus we have the rugby club nearby (which obviously needs knocking down and rebuilding). Morbaine want to put shops and more concrete here which we are against for a number of reasons: more cars = more pollution, where will Ponty play? and we want a sports centre!

Brown Lennox: The site had the chance of a small Morrisons store (they even promised to pay for the restoration and upkeep of the canal) but while Labour led RCTCBC passed the development - the WAG (Carwyn James, Labour) turned it down. Great to see democracy and the will of the people being ignored in Ponty.

So what now... Well, we'd still like a Morrisons there (or Aldi or Lidl), we'd still like the canal cleaned up, we'd also like a visitor centre/shop for the canal, but what we'd really like is a sports centre with a 25m swimming pool with secure bike park. We don't need a car park as there is already one at B&Q etc.

The idiotic roundabout can be designed properly (i.e. demolished) and we can have access to the site here as well as a slip road for traffic to go north to Merthyr and Aberdare (not sure why it wasn't done to begin!). The Glyntaf slip road can also be reopened and speed restrictions imposed (like at Taffs Well) so everyone driving past Ponty is made to slow down on the A470 and sees how wonderful it is and wants to visit!

Park: The Park is a War Memorial Park and we should never forget this. It is also the only decent thing in Ponty at present. So it makes sense to have more of it not less. We need to reduce (or eliminate completely) the number of cars entering the Park (only ambulances and a couple of council trucks are needed surely?). There should be no car park in the Park under any circumstances. Cars increase pollution, are a danger to our children and there is no need at all for us to destroy (or at the very least, erode) our "jewel in the crown". On the site of the RCT run down Day Centre we should build a new Environmental Centre for the schools of Pontypridd (c.f. Cardiff Museum's centre). Built from local sustainable materials of course, again the Welsh Assembly will pay for this, and a secure bike park opened in the Park. Think about it, if the Health Centre and Day Centre are to close then this means we should have more land for Parkland, not less.

Good news is that after years of campaigning the council has just allowed part of the Taff Trail to run through the edge of the Park - so some good news!

Town Centre: The Parkland should be increased not decreased. The precinct is ugly, dirty and outdated, so pull it down. We extend the Park across the River into the area of the precinct and landscape the ground there. We add cobbled stones, flower-clad lanes or even an open plaza - this could be the new cafe quarter, benches, cafes, statues, viewing points across the river and park for wildlife etc... This area should have 100% local shops with all-weather areas facing the River. We need cafes overlooking the River Taff. Flats can be built above the shops also overlooking the river and would mean people living in the town! NO multinationals over a certain size should be allowed into this area - there aren't any now are there! Not that we want to give in to this current obsession with car parks that certain people seem to have but we could have a small underground car park here as well.

One excellent suggestion is to have the RCT council offices relocated here - this would bring in a lot of trade to the town. The whole of Taff Street should be pedestrianised of course and deliveries finished by early morning or staggered throughout the day. Shops should be given extended licenses to open until 10:00pm if they wish and the whole area lit up so making it safer and easier to police. With pubs banning smoking soon we should see more families enjoying the town's pubs and eateries so let's make sure it's safe. Street friendly trees can be planted the entire length of Taff Street as well as being replanted along Gelliwastad Road. We should be looking to make Pontypridd the most attractive town in Britain and hence attract more visitors than we could cope with! Free, clean toilets might help. We would also suggest that the "Goods Yard" have a train station put there to link with the new bus station. Disabled access for town should also be improved.

We'd also like to see a Circular Walk introduced to Ponty and the surrounding area (e.g. Taff Trail, Museum, Old Bridge, Taff Street, Fountain, War Memorial Park circuit, The 5th Welch Memorial, Rocking Stones, Round Houses, Machine Bridge, cottages on Broadway, Tumble, Train station, Sardis Road, Thomas Telford's Newbridge Viaduct, St Catherine's Church, Muni Arts Centre, Llanover Arms, Newbridge, Taff Trail). This walkway could have special "paving stones" and/or plaques that could inform users of the historical significance of sites. It should of course link up to the Taff Trail, which as we've said earlier should run through town, with a cycle lane. A great way to liven up town, attract visitors, promote our history and it will cost the council next to nothing. We have offered to do a FREE website for the town council of the Circular Walk as long as they cover domain name and hosting costs.

We also have another plan - a bigger and better idea - far more visionary - looking way into the future (well 10 years anyway). We sent this in to the Observer:

I Have A Dream

Last night I had a dream! With the increasing proliferation of out of town stores and shopping on the internet continuing to increase very soon every small town centre in Britain will be deader than Ponty is at the moment. But this is no nightmare. We have a chance to create something special. With Cardiff, our nations capital, only a short trip away, Caerphilly and it’s castle even closer, the historic Rhondda, Cynon and Taff valleys on our doorstep and the rugged Brecon Beacons beyond, Ponty doesn’t need to compete. We already have much more than we need at hand. Our solution – lets turn Ponty into a “Green Town”. Ponty is ideally placed to become one of the best looking and most attractive towns in Britain - it has history, setting, wonderful people and a beautiful Park already here - you can't turn Milton Keyes into that can you? If you dropped a bomb on the precinct you’d do £5 worth of damage so that is to our advantage too - like Germany after the war we can redevelop our town as we want. We can turn Ponty into a really great place to live. State of the art sports centre and Olympic-size swimming pool on the Brown Lenox site. Replace the precinct and car park with low-rise flats and local shops amid more parkland overlooking the river – get people living in town again. More pubs and clubs, more cafes. Lets turn Ponty into the leisure and tourism centre of South Wales. With vision Blaenavon has reinvented itself as a tourist book town – Ponty is bigger and better! Lets abandon dreams of attracting multinationals in order to turn our very special town into a carbon copy of every other boring and bland town in the UK where one High Street looks the same as the next – lets go for gold! Pedestrianise Taff Street, plant trees along all our streets, turn shops to face the river, get the Circular Walk underway, reinvent the town as a tourist hub with great accommodation, bars and cafes, it's branches moving out to beaches, city centre shopping, mountain biking, other historic towns and outdoor activities, no more cars in town, our house prices will rise as pollution becomes a thing of the past, well-lit streets help police police - crime falls, council can charge more council tax, Australians will want to emmigrate here for a better life. Anyone in power brave enough to build a bright healthy future for our children?

If you think any of these ideas are good (or close to your own thinking) then copy it and send it to your local councillor and demand they bring it up at the next meeting they attend or you won't vote for them again. Keep writing to them until things start to change for the better. If you have something to add then post it on the message board for all to see. Tell everyone about your message board and encourage people to sign up and start posting. Don't just sit at home moaning - get active! It also might be worth picking on one small part of the plan and continually demanding that it is done, e.g. planting trees everywhere, that way the small mind of your average councillor isn't overloaded with too much information. OK, joke :).

Email the Western Mail with it. Send it to Carwyn James at the WAG. Let Kim Howells and Jane Davidson know. Send it to your friends. Start posting on our message board. Write to the Observer. Get involved in anyway at all. Don't except second best. Demand the best for your town and your children. And never give up. Fight for what you deserve. Think BIG.
